4 - darkwing duck #12
5 - x-men giant size #1
6 - x-men: prelude to schism #2
7 - batman #710
8 - amazing spider-man #661
9 - batman and robin #23

gates was a masterpiece. x-force returned to top form. flashpoint was great. darkwing was lots of fun. no real stinkers this time around although spidey and batman / robin were a little blah, but not horrible.

another big pile made it home with me today...

detective comics #877 - cover of the week! another gorgeous cover from the awesome jock. of course DC managed to completely ruin it with that grotesque green lantern banner running across the top. yuck! scott snyder continues his great storytelling.

astonishing spider-man & wolverine #6 - runner up for cover of the week. wolvie possessed by dark phoenix. how awesome is that? very awesome.

uncanny x-men #537 - love the colors on this cover. kitty pryde is one of my favorite x-characters.

the mighty thor #2 - we're only two issues into this new series and it's quickly becoming one of my favorites. fantastic art. fantastic story. fantastic comic.

deadpool #37 - deadpool wants to die so he decides to piss off the incredible hulk. hilarity follows.

wolverine #9

spider-girl #7

amazing spider-man #662

ff #4

daomu #4 - very creepy comic. good stuff.

1 - chew #27
2 - starborn #6
3 - hellboy: being human
4 - amazing spider-man #660
5 - nonplayer #1
6 - ff #3
7 - daken dark wolverine #9
8 - batman incorporated #6
9 - x-men #11

chew's look into the future was great. starborn continues to excel. a great hellboy one-shot. the spidey issue was lots of fun. nonplayer has some of the best art ever. daken's art was great too. bat inc was better than previous issues, but still had its shortcomings. and marvel and the x-men need to get over this vampire junk.

some great stuff came in this week...

batman - gates of gotham #1 - COVER OF THE WEEK! gorgeous. and nobody is writing batman as well as scott snyder is right now. i expect greatness from this mini-series.

flashpoint #1 - this actually came out last week, but after being highly recommended i had to pick it up. this first issue of DC's summer blockbuster event was fantastic. great story, great art, and fantastic surprises.

batman #710

batman and robin #23 - the return of the red hood

uncanny x-force #10 - a prelude to the upcoming mega x-force event, the dark angel saga. great cover featuring the split personalities of warren worthington.

x-men giant size #1 - the current x-men take on the x-first class team. i don't know how this is possible, but consider me intrigued.

x-men - prelude to schism #2

amazing spider-man #661

darkwing duck #12

comic book stash #34

rankings for 5.4.2011...

1 - axe cop: bad guy earth #3
2 - deadpool annual #1
3 - x-men: prelude to schism #1
4 - fear itself: spider-man #1
5 - fear itself #2
6 - moon knight #1
7 - uncanny x-force #9
8 - kung fu panda #1

for the first time, uncanny x-force fails to deliver. it wasn't a horrible issue, but didn't come close to the rest of the series. kung fu panda was terrible. i'll just wait for the new movie. spots 3 through 6 were all pretty good. the deadpool issue was fantastic. and the king of the mountain is axe cop. best comic ever in the history of comics. ever.

this weeks goodies include...

amazing spider-man #660 - cover of the week. none of this week's covers are breathtaking but i probably enjoyed this one the most. i'm still loving the new FF uniforms and it's great seeing the team in action. fun stuff.

daken #9 - for the second issue in a row, the interior art in this book is absolutely fantastic.

ff #3

x-men #11 - goodness gracious i thought we were done with all of this vampire junk. and i was really starting to enjoy this title. oh well at least it's only for one more issue.

chew #27 - 27? yep. wasn't last month's issue #18? yep. so this was some kind of mix-up? nope. the chew universe jumps 9 issues into the future to give readers a peak at what's to come. could any other series pull this off? nope. i love chew!

hellboy - being human

batman incorporated #6 - love seeing the entire team on the cover. it's basically the only reason i picked up this issue. hopefully it doesn't suck too bad.

starborn #6 (cover b)

nonplayer #1 (second printing) - missed this the first time around. beautiful art.

this past saturday was free comic book day. i wasn't able to make it so i picked up some free books on today's trip...

amazing spider-man - great extra story to go along with the current happenings in spidey's world

captain america / thor

green lantern

super dinosaur - origin special

mouse guard / the dark crystal (flip book)

chip 'n' dale rescue rangers

atomic robo

comic book stash #33

a long rankings list for last week's big stack of books...

1 - the mighty thor #1
2 - batman detective comics #876
3 - deadpool #36
4 - amazing spider-man #659
5 - uncanny x-men #536
6 - haunt #15
7 - star wars: darth vader and the lost command #4
8 - godzilla: kingdom of monsters #2
9 - ff #2
10 - spider-girl #6
11 - x-men #10
12 - x-23 #9
13 - new mutants #24 (age of x chapter 6)
14 - age of x universe #2
15 - osborn #5
16 - batman incorporated #5

wow what a crazy long list. a big surprise at number one is the new thor ongoing series. great, great book with fantastic art (coloring especially). detective comics was a very close second. deadpool returned to top form. the end of age of x was extremely disappointing as was the lackluster and uneventful conclusion to the osborn series. oh and i'm done with batman inc.

this wednesday brings home a much more normal stack of goodies. at first glance, this looks to be one of the better weeks in a long while. lots of high quality stuff...

axe cop: bad guy earth #3 - COVER OF THE WEEK! so much awesome on one cover! i'm very sad and very excited about this conclusion issue to one of the best series ever.

uncanny x-force #9 - another installment in the superior x-force series. much better cover this time around, magneto looks great.

fear itself: book two - runner-up for cover of the week honors. i'm loving the layout of these covers.

fear itself: spider man #1 - a spin-off of the marvel mega event.

x-men: prelude to schism #1 - the beginning of the next major x story arc.

deadpool annual #1

moon knight #1 - a brand new series about a character i'm not too familiar with. but with a great creative team behind it, i had to give it at least one shot.

and some people may laugh, but the last book this week makes me very happy.
i give you the awesomenss that is kung fu panda #1 - skadoosh!
