x-force is such a blast to read. lots of fun. wolverine delivered a chilling conclusion to logan's search for revenge. chew was just as ridiculous and awesome as always. gates of gotham was solid. TMNT was good, it just left me wanting more. can't wait for issue #2!  gen. hope was surprisingly strong. kick-ass was decent. and the rest were just ok. i will admit that deadpool has been letting me down the last few issues. bummer.

justice league #1 - COVER OF THE WEEK! the time has finally come, the beginning of DC's new 52. and what a way to start it off! i'm very excited to stare at jim lee's perfectly detailed art for hours and hours.

flashpoint #5 - the conclusion of flashpoint and the lead-in to the new DC universe. i expect big things from this book.

uncanny x-force #14 - two issues from this series in two weeks? yes please!

the mighty thor #5 - another one of my favorite series. the art is so good.

amazing spider-man #668 - spider-island part two

gambit: from the marvel vault - a never before released story about my favorite x-man. judging by the cover, i'm hoping for some great team-up action.

uncanny was a great book, everything an x-men book should be. #'s 2-4 were decent. batman was a little bit of a let-down.

as for today, a nice sized stack of goodies made their way home with me. excited to dive into these...

wolverine #14 - COVER OF THE WEEK! seems like it's been awhile since jae lee took home COTW honors. but he's back on top with a cover that symbolizes logan perfectly.

uncanny x-force #13 - the third chapter in the awesome dark angel saga. this book is so much fun to read.

x-men #16

generation hope #10 - this one came out last week, i decided to pick it up because of the schism connection.

deadpool #42 - this cover makes me laugh. love it.

kick-ass 2 #3 - it's never a good idea to make your readers wait almost a year between issues. i hope this one is worth the wait.

batman: gates of gotham #5 - the conclusion to the fantastic mini-series about the families of gotham.

batman: the dark knight #5 - i wonder if this book is going to make any sense. at least the art will be nice to look at.

flashpoint: project superman #3

chew #20 - this issue was originally supposed to be released around easter a few months ago. that explains the cover.

the final issue of detective comics was perfect and was an easy choice for the top spot. x-force and red wing were both very awesome. batman / robin was a great one-shot and had the art been a little better, i think it would have been higher on my list. fear itself was action packed. baltimore was better than i remember from the first series. spider-island was decent. the 80 page batman book had some very nice short stories. the art in x-men was great, the story was just ok. and deadpool wasn't a horrible read, it just had way too much dialogue for a deadpool comic. overall, last week was pretty dang good.

smaller stack this week. nothing too exciting...

batman #713 - COVER OF THE WEEK! this is a perfect batman cover. i love it.

uncanny x-men #541 - this one actually came out a few weeks ago, but i'm just now getting around to picking it up. great cover, great art, great action, great comic. very nice.

uncanny x-men #542 - just like it's predecessor - great cover, great art, great action, great comic. really enjoying this fear itself x-men arc.

x-men: schism #3 - this series is a little out there, with the x-men basically fighting children, but it's still a good read. unfortunately, they're using a different artist for each issue, and that's never a good thing. especially this week.

fear itself: deadpool #3 - this little mini-series has made up for the lack of quality lately from the main deadpool series. funny, crazy, and action packed - just the way a deadpool comic should be.

darkwing duck #15 (cover b) - i love this cover.

flashpoint bats concluded it's phenomenal run on a high note. the infinite and severed both got off to fantastic starts. red skull was again a little disturbing but still a high quality book. the story in gates of gotham continues to excel but a change of artists brought the book down this time. wolverine and flashpoint were both a little disappointing but not horrible. daomu was just ok.

another monster stack of comics to read this week...

detective comics #881 - COVER OF THE WEEK - a fantastic finale. the 11 books that make up the snyder / jock / francavilla story on this series have been the best bunch of comics i've ever read.

last week i brought home one of the best batch of comics i've ever picked up. here's how i ranked them...

detective comics continues to be a work of genius. wow. x-force was a very close second. those two are easily the best books out right now. spider-island got off to a great start. the mighty thor continued it's successful run. schism, FF, and project superman were all really good. the vault started out slow but ended on a very high note. wolvie and deadpool was a fun little joke story. the only stinker... dark knight. ugh. hopefully it gets better after the relaunch.

this week brings another excellent stack of books. two great weeks in a row? looks like it...

red skull incarnate #2 - COVER OF THE WEEK! the retro style of these red skull covers are so unique and refreshing. it's probably a lock that each week a book from this series is released it will be crowned the COTW.

wolverine #13 - another great cover by jae lee. but let's hope this issue brings a little something new in the story department.

flashpoint #4 - great cover. we're getting close to wrapping up DC's mega event. can't wait to see how it all ends.

flashpoint: batman - knight of vengeance #3 - this mini-series will probably go down as my favorite mini for the year. it's that freakin' good. and wow, this cover is haunting.

batman: gates of gotham #4 - if the book above has any competition for the mini-series of the year, it might come from gates of gotham. gorgeous art and a totally original story. you've never read a batman book like this one before.

next we have a couple of debuts from image comics. first up...

the infinite #1 - a brand new series from comic king robert kirkman.

severed #1 - a new horror book from the best writer in all of comics, scott snyder. at first glance the art doesn't look so great, but if anything can make you get over less than stellar art, it's a story from mr. snyder.
