6 - xenoholics #1

8 - fear itself: the fearless #1
9 - uncanny x-men #544
10 - space warped #4

batman was an easy #1, but superior, nightwing, justice league, and wonder woman all put up very tough competition. the top 5 books were all fantastic. xenoholics was a fun read. the two fear itself books were good. and uncanny x was a nice ending to the long running series.

this week brings another 12 awesome books. here they are...

aquaman #2 - COVER OF THE WEEK! these bad ass sea creatures are awesome!

dark knight #2 - i told myself i wasn't going to pick up this issue, but i guess i'm a sucker for a batman book. i hope i'm not disappointed.

the incredible hulk #1 - been looking forward to this book for a while. excited to jump into a hulk series especially one with awesome art like this one.

comic book stash #57

comic rankings from 10.12...

1 - uncanny x-force #16
2 - baltimore: the curse bells #3
3 - ultimate x-men #2
4 - green lantern #2
5 - batgirl #2
6 - penguin: pain and prejudice #1

9 - amazing spider-man #671 (spider-island part 5)
10 - batman and robin #2
11 - starborn #11
12 - the infinite horizon #1

x-force continues to amaze. baltimore is great. ultimate x has been a very pleasant surprise. green lantern, batgirl, and suicide squad were very nice second issues in the new DC 52. nothing horrible from this group worth noting, everything was at the very least decent.

this week looks like it's going to be pretty great...

justice league #2 - COVER OF THE WEEK! jim lee's work always looks perfect. this is a great action cover.

batman #2 - another great action packed cover. capullo's art has been great so far in this series.

nightwing #2

wonder woman #2

fear itself: book seven - the conclusion to the fear itself mega-event is finally here! let's hope it doesn't disappoint.

fear itself: the fearless #1 - i guess this is the wrap up series for fear itself. i thought i'd at least give the first issue a chance.

uncanny x-men #544 - this isn't technically the last issue of uncanny, just the last before a "relaunch" and renumbering. i expect a mostly retrospective issue.

x-men #1 20th anniversary edition - features recolored art by jim lee and a beautiful 4-panel fold-out cover. make sure to check out the high-res!

comic book stash #56

last week was one of the best ever as far as comics go. here's the rundown...

1 - swamp thing #2
2 - severed #3
3 - batman detective comics #2
4 - superior #5
5 - x-men: schism #5
6 - chew #21
7 - the strange talent of luther strode #1
8 - x-men #19
9 - infinite #3

scott snyder takes home the top two spots with swamp thing and severed, both phenomenal books. detective follows up an excellent first issue with a strong second one. even after a long layoff between issues, superior was a great read. schism wrapped up nicely with what was probably the best issue of the series. chew and luther strode might be in sixth and seventh place on the list but both books were great. x-men and infinite were both just ok, especially compared to the rest of the week. in summary... seven awesome books, two average ones. great week.

here's what this week has to offer...

uncanny x-force #16 - cover of the week! the best part of this cover is definitely the background. get rid of deadpool and new blob and give me more sinister iceman!

amazing spider-man #671 (spider-island part five)

x-men: regenesis (one shot)

ultimate x-men #2

suicide squad #2

batgirl #2

batman and robin #2

green lantern #2

penguin: pain and prejudice #1

starborn #11

the infinite horizon #1

baltimore: the curse bells #3

comic book stash #55

here are the rankings for last week's lackluster bunch of books...

1 - amazing spider-man #670 (spider-island part four)
2 - aquaman #1
3 - the mighty thor #6
4 - the flash #1
5 - batman: the dark knight #1
6 - superman #1
7 - savage hawkman #1
8 - x-men #18
9 - wolverine #16
10 - kick-ass 2 #4

spidey is getting better and better with each issue of spider-island. aquaman is off to a great start. the mighty thor continues to please. other than those, nothing really stood out. flash, dark knight, superman, and hawkman were all decent first issues in the new DCU, but with so many books each and every month, decent just doesn't cut it. x-men was ok. wolverine wasn't so great. and kick-ass is just trying way way too hard. not good at all.

the first week of october brings home a promising stack of comics...

x-men: schism #5 - COVER OF THE WEEK! freakin' awesome! wow.

x-men #19 - i really like this cover too. the x-men are cleaning up this week in the cover department.

swamp thing #2 - make it 3 for 3 this week with great covers. this is really well done.

batman detective comics #2

chew #21 - the beginning of the new story arc... major league chew. awesome.

the strange talent of luther strode #1 - picked this one up after a strong recommendation from my local comic shop. art looks great at first glance.

severed #3 - scott snyder is the best.

the infinite #3

and after what seems like a five year delay...
