deadpool #29 - continues to be the most entertaining book i pick-up... funny, well written, action-packed, good art... reading this series is just lots of fun

deadpool team-up #887 - picked this one up randomly... looks pretty funny

deadpool pulp #3 - definitely one of the best covers of the week. jae lee always brings it!

amazing spider-man #649 - this series is getting better and better

namor #4 - another jae lee cover masterpiece

fringe: tales from the fringe #6 - my favorite cover of the week... every cover in this series has been unique and flat out awesome. i love fringe!

the traveler #1 - new series from the mind of stan lee

batman and robin #17 - another batman title that i'm adding to my list. batman is the best.

batman and robin #1 ($1 reprint) - the beginning of the series from grant morrison

darkwing duck #1 (cover b) finally showed up... let's get dangerous!

holy heck this was a big week. 15 new books made their way home with me today and i'm pretty stoked. and thanks to some trade-in cash for some old cd's, my wallet survived the trip. good day for sure.

since i started my new comic collection, i've been looking for a good way to ease into the batman universe. well today was certainly the day for that as a new era in the world of batman seems to have been born. 3 bat titles this week. yes yes yes.

this week's line-up starts with the much anticipated chew #15 which includes a snazzy tri-fold poster cover thingy! (this one easily takes cover of the week honors.) great wrap-up to the third story arc, but raises so many new questions. such a bummer that we have to wait almost 6 weeks for issue 16. ugh i'm impatient!

halcyon #1 (first issue of a new series from image comics... "what happens when the superheroes win? what happens once there is no crime, no war? the heroes of UTOPIAN achieve their final victory only to face their greatest challenge ever." interesting premise so i'm giving this one a chance. hopefully it delivers.)

iron man rapture (first solo iron man story arc for me. about time.)

the nba season is back and i couldn't be more excited! getting ready for what is hopefully another successful run for the boston celtics. rajon rondo has been an absolute beast so far in the young season. this past friday, rondo posted a triple double against the knicks with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 24 assists. wow. through five games he has totaled 82 assists, an nba record, besting the likes of all time greats john stockton and magic johnson. he is building off his incredible showing in last years playoffs and as of right now, has no signs of slowing down. yeah, most likely his stats will come back to down to earth as the season progresses, but he will definitely go on to average a double digit assist per game total for the first time in his career. father time is of course working against the celtics again this year, but all they have to do is be healthy and rested come playoff time, and rondo can lead them to an nba title.

this year, espn the magazine's nba preview was made up of mock comic book covers done by the great artists over at marvel comics. they likened this year's celtics team to the legendary fantastic four, except in boston's case they say its the fantastic five. personally i feel like they should have stuck to four and left shaq ("the big shamrock") off, but i think the main thing to take away from this is that rajon is featured front and center. you can forget about boston's "big three", this is rondo's team now.
