the green monster

the nba season is back and i couldn't be more excited! getting ready for what is hopefully another successful run for the boston celtics. rajon rondo has been an absolute beast so far in the young season. this past friday, rondo posted a triple double against the knicks with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 24 assists. wow. through five games he has totaled 82 assists, an nba record, besting the likes of all time greats john stockton and magic johnson. he is building off his incredible showing in last years playoffs and as of right now, has no signs of slowing down. yeah, most likely his stats will come back to down to earth as the season progresses, but he will definitely go on to average a double digit assist per game total for the first time in his career. father time is of course working against the celtics again this year, but all they have to do is be healthy and rested come playoff time, and rondo can lead them to an nba title.

this year, espn the magazine's nba preview was made up of mock comic book covers done by the great artists over at marvel comics. they likened this year's celtics team to the legendary fantastic four, except in boston's case they say its the fantastic five. personally i feel like they should have stuck to four and left shaq ("the big shamrock") off, but i think the main thing to take away from this is that rajon is featured front and center. you can forget about boston's "big three", this is rondo's team now.
