comic book stash #7

holy heck this was a big week. 15 new books made their way home with me today and i'm pretty stoked. and thanks to some trade-in cash for some old cd's, my wallet survived the trip. good day for sure.

since i started my new comic collection, i've been looking for a good way to ease into the batman universe. well today was certainly the day for that as a new era in the world of batman seems to have been born. 3 bat titles this week. yes yes yes.

batman: the return (one-shot)

batman #704

batman incorporated #1

and here's the rest of my epic haul:

haunt #11 - another outstanding cover. pretty safe to say this series is 11 for 11 in the epic cover department.

hellboy: double feature of evil

soldier zero #2 (cover b)

marvel dominates the rest of the stack...

iron man rapture #2 - definitely my cover of the week. the first two issues of this series might be two of the best comics i've ever read. awesome awesome stuff.

thor: first thunder #3 - love the story / hate the interior art

daken dark wolverine #3 - love this cover!

x-23 #3

x-men curse of the mutants #5

generation hope #1

osborn #1

spider-girl #1

i picked up those last two titles to go along with the new spider-man "big time" arc.

and finally darkwing duck #6 (still waiting on issue 1 - torture!)

so much reading!

  1. Is the interior art the same as the cover on X-23? If so pretty cool, just seems so off base for the range of styles Marvel keeps. Like the cover for Generation Hope as well; can't wait to tear into some of these!

  2. i am not a fan of the x-23 covers at all. however i really enjoy the interior work. here are some samples...

  3. Okay, the interior art's kinda cool. That's like I just started reading Ultimate X-Men, and it's so inconsistent. I don't like having 3 different artists for a single book.

  4. i don't think i have ever come across a book that switches artists every issue... that would definitely get on my nerves. but i understand changing things up after the completion of a particular story arc (after 4, 5, 6 issues or whatever) if that makes any sense...

now that you mention it, i have ultimate x-men: the ultimate collection vol. 1 on my shelf (first 12 issues) but i haven't read it yet... is that what you're reading now?

  5. Yeah, I've read the first 20.. I think? I don't know though, because looking at it now, it looks like issues 13-14 come after 20, but it made sense when I was reading it, so I'm not worried about that. But yes, what you have is volumes 1 & 2 put together, which has 4 different artists between both books. It's not a huge problem till volume 3 though where there's 3 different artists, and it's so drastic that even the character styles change a bit. I'll bring the 3rd one down with the rest of them this week.
