the lost continent: the best of 2010

no new comics for the first week of 2011, so i've decided to take this chance to bring you my favorite stuff from last year's books. unfortunately, my comic collection did not begin until this past august, so all of my choices are based off the last half of 2010. but wow was it a great few months.

the following are my favorite on-going series for the year...

1 - uncanny x-force (marvel comics)

we were only graced with three issues of this brand new series in 2010, but those issues certainly left their mark. this series is everything a comic book should be. stellar writing. beautiful art. great characters. an intriguing story. suspense. action. humor. emotion. what more could you ask for?

2 - chew (image comics)

you would think a story about a police officer who eats his victims in order to find out what happened to them would never even make it to the publisher, much less be successful. but it did. and it is. award winning success to be specific. this comic is so over the top, but i wouldn't ever ask for anything less. it's hilarious. it's disgusting. and it should be required reading.

3 - deadpool (marvel comics)

this series can best be described with a single word: FUN. fun, fun, fun. deadpool is one of the great things about comics. the series shows that it doesn't have to be gloom and doom, end of the world, good versus evil all the time. deadpool and his battling voices are hilarious. he goes from getting a job in vegas, to teaming up with the secret avengers, to fighting a baddie by the name of doctor gong. this comic isn't meant to be taken seriously, and that's what makes it one of the best.
